Guaranteed Auto Protection (GAP) is a Loan/Lease Balance Deficiency Waiver designed to protect individuals who finance a new or used vehicles by eliminating the unpaid net loan or net lease balance in the event of theft or total loss.
If the vehicle is damaged beyond repair ("totaled") or stolen and never recovered, GAP protects the member against financial loss by covering the difference between the actual cash value (ACV) of the vehicle and the loan/lease balance (up to the policy maximum).
